Biosphere Reserve Spreewald
Since 1976, UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific, Cultural and Communications Organization) has been awarding such cultural landscapes worldwide in accordance with the guidelines of the international program "Man and the Biosphere" (MAB). There are currently 669 biosphere reserves in 120 countries - 17 of them in Germany. Among them since 1991: the Biosphere Reserve Spreewald, a unique landscape in Central Europe!
